I made a new account. I've had this account FOREVER, but it wasn't used for the first almost year of being created. Truth be told, I didn't put much thought into the username; I just chose it because "pensive" was taken. lmao. But I don't like the 'le' in the front. =/ It's far too...I dunno how to explain it. It isn't ME. Not to mention I post way too much spam in my own journal. xD;

SO. HERE'S MY NEW ACCOUNT: pencollie

And here's what is gonna change, along with the account:
1) most things posted will be fursuit related
2) only people I actually /know/ (AKA have talked to atleast a few times) will be added back
3) personal entries will be kept to a minimum, and will be friends-only
4) doodles will probably be posted often for your amusement
5) the journal will be MUCH more organized
6) there will be alot less "pointless" journal entries

I partially did this because I wanted to, but I also did this because I have a bad habit of just adding someone because they added me...and I need to work on getting rid of that habit, along with my habit of posting far too much spam. I'll see y'all on my new account! (comments disabled on this post; no complaining, since this is MY LJ, not yours)

EDIT. I've nearly finished the head. I put the eyes in and completely furred it. All I need to do is decide what I wanna do for the insides of the ears (debating on what color to use for them) and sew the fur for the back of the head on. (: Then I'll take some photos. Might make this guy into a partial...not sure. I definately have enough of this fur for it! XD

I'm preforming plastic surgery on my second ever fursuit head. x3 Truthfully, it was my best so far in terms of fitting and being light-weight but I screw up on the furring so I didn't like it. So, I ripped off all the fur and most of the foam and began again. I've refoamed it now and added chiffon for the eyes (I'll cut out the plastic for them tommorow and re-fur it after that). It already looks alot better. (: I think y'all will like it.

wh00t! lion tail!

My family and I are going to see "The Wizard of Oz" preformed on stage tonight, and in the excitement I made a lion tail (the Cowardly Lion is the funniest character!) out of leftover yellow fleece and brown fur. :3 It isn't as wide as I'd like it to be, but it was leftovers so that's to be expected. -nods- Especially considering I had only an HOUR to make it before we had to leave (we're leaving in, like, two seconds...I just got on to type things while my mom was distracted xD). Last time we went to see Cinderella, alot of little kids were dressed up...so, for the amusement, I decided to do the same. haha. Update on any reactions I get later! ^_^ toodles, for now.

So, I've wondered for a while but I was finally inspired to post about it by Miss Koi thar before me. :D -bow- SO. Since I'll have my first (notmadebyme) partial soon, I'll probably be going on some fursuit outings (for Halloween, conventions, etc) and I had a few questions relating to entertainment in a fursuit:

1. What type of props would be good for a canine fursuit? More specifically, I'm a purple border collie. x3 I'll be wearing a large collar, so I've already considered joking having my mate "take me on a walk". lmao. But, other than that, what types of props would be good for this type of suit? :3 ...questions brought about by seeing Stria with her giant yarn ball. :D

2. Got any tips for how to entertain people? I /love/ making people laugh and entertaining people, but since I won't be talking in suit most likely (except maybe barking or howling xP lol) I'll have to depend on my actions to do that. So...tips? As another note, my mate is a snow leopard, so once he has his suit there will be /alot/ of jokes that could be made relating to cats and dogs. XD That will bring about alot of amusement. >__>

One suggestion I got that I LOVED was to buy a sheep plushie as a prop, to carry around or herd. x3 Being of the herding breed, that's and excellent idea. So, using my Target giftcard (from my birthday) and the other $5 I made from shreding papers for my mom, I'm going to Target today in an hour or so to see what they have in the way of sheep plushies. :D This is such an awesome idea. Someone else suggested buying a fake caveman bone, being a dog, which I'll probably do once our local halloween shop opens up (it's only open in October). :]

I'm planning on getting a tattoo with Aaron when he gets here in December (and have been for quite a while now), and I finally know what i'm getting. I'm going to get a purple coyote pawprint on the left side of my lower back. x3 Aaron will be getting a black feline pawprint in the exact same spot. (: It's both something we like, and something we won't hate later in life. I'm also planning on getting (much later in life) a coyote stretched out along my lower back, one paw extended towards the pawprint. :3 It'll be awesome.

ANYWAYS. For now, I found a random dragon temp. tattoo and put it on my lower back (left side) just because I need to get used to the idea of a tattoo being there. x3 It looks freakin awesome, except the upper part didn't go on as well as I'd hope (hey, YOU try tattooing yourself on your back XD).

Also, as a little note to anyone who is planning on preaching...I'm /not/ just getting a tattoo because I wanna get one with Aaron. I've wanted a tattoo for years, because I've always loved drawing on myself with sharpie and I finally decided it'd be awesome to get one for real. I've spent the last six months trying to decide on the perfect design, as well. So this isn't just a random "ooo! i should get a tattoo!" moment, which I'll regret later in life. xB kthnx.

As a random note, anyone here have a tattoo? O: If so, any photos? A story on why you got that? etc. I'd love to hear, since my dream career is being a tattoo artist. -nods-

EDIT. Apparently Randy was right -__-; You can't get a tattoo in Texas under 18, even WITH parental permission. I guess I was mistaken. I'll probably try to go visit Illinois in December, and get one there. I'll have to look into what their rules on tattoos are...BAH. That's very disappointing.

I'd speak in suit depending on whether it's a partial or not. If it's a fullsuit, I probably wouldn't speak; I'd be more animal than human in my mind since most don't wear clothes with a fullsuit. However, when I'm wearing my partial I don't mind speaking because I see my character as ANTHRO not animal. In my head, she has my voice and is ME so it seems natural for me to talk. I don't always, obviously, but it isn't bad to me if I do. :B Basically...for me, it's like walking around normally except with extra fur...not to mention I have trouble keeping my mouth shut when I'm excited. >_>

However...I think it's /only/ with my Pensive suit I'd be comfortable talking in. When I wear Gummy or Taboo I don't talk, because Gummy doesn't talk period and Taboo does, in art, but I couldn't do her voice even if I wanted to so I just show emotion through my actions in those partials. xB

What are your opinions on the subject? =) Just curious. -nod-

EDIT. Also, anyone know any good tutorials on making fursuit handpaws? I've seen the ones on the fursuit LJ community, but none of them helped me. =/ I need to see the pieces actually cut out. That's my main problem. -nods- Anyone?

Today pretty much has sucked ENTIRELY.
But thats okay.

If, when recieved in the mail, either don't work you may send it back to me for a refund. :)

Okay, so, here's the deal. I've gotten crits on my last fursuit, and I know what to change next time. So, I decided to go ahead and start on another suit (since I have most of the fur and foam I need already, anyway). My next suit is going to be a black and brown female canine of some sort with blue eyes and a lavender hair tuft. I already have about half a yard (possibly more) of the brown I need, left over from my last suit, and I know there's some black on sale at the JoAnnes by my house...HOWEVER. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HER DESIGN SHOULD BE!

So, here's where you come it! I want you to give this gal a design (using the regulations listed on the image above). Just add the markings and color into my already drawn template (to save y'all time X3) and send it to me (either over eMail, or add it to your scraps and send me the link). YES, THERE ARE PRIZES! Or, rather, /a/ prize.

Basically, whoever I choose will get a full-colored image (no shading) of one character. The only last detail? There's no deadline. I'm ending the contest once I find the design that I've fallen in love with. If I end up liking more than one entry, I'll draw something with BOTH (or all) characters in it. X3 So hurry hurry!

Fursuit progress (with photos! 8D)

I just realised I never posted about this here. xD

My newest project is 1/3rd done! Her name is Evisne (eh-viz-ney) P. Wolf, and she's an evil villain. X3 Well, an evil villain in training, actually. Her motivation for world conquest? She goes to "The Evil Villain's Acadamy" (evil villainly runs in her family) where she gets made fun of constantly by a group of guys there who all believe a girl could never rule the world because 'they're too emotional'. As a result, she's now trying harder than ever to prove them wrong.

She's going to be a semi-partial (no footpaws; she'll wear boots). The head is completely half-way furred (I'm taking a break for a bit, after working for nearly 2 hours straight). She's a dark brown wolf with yellow eye-whites. :] Hellz yeah! I'm trying to finish her by 9:00 tonight so I can wear her to the "Harry Potter Bash" thing at my Borders book store. :O That'd be awesome!

Fun Fact: Her name is "Pensive" spelled backwards ("Evisne P."). lol. I've wanted an anti-pensive character, of sorts, for a while now...and I thought it'd be cool to give her a name that is literally Pensive...backwards. -nod- I'll post pictures of the head when I get it furred. =)

....sneak peak pictures below ;) Though I should mention that the chiffon /is/ glued on already (you just can't see it here) and all of the fur except for that on top/behind the head is glue on already :3 I'm just waiting to sew it together so I can do the nessessary trimming around the edges and such. That said, here you go: W.I.P 1 and W.I.P 2. :D

I'm just curious, how open are you guys about being furry (if you are xD)? What reactions have you gotten, from the people that know (any furry-haters? :3) How big a part of your life is the fandom? If people /don't/ know, why not? I'm just curious. :) Feel free to go into detail about your experiences; I love hearing them.

I'm really open; I guess you could call me a lifestyler. I wear my tail to the mall, I wear a collar everyday to school (or, rather, will when I get it), I talk to anyone who'll listen about the fandom, and I even work on fursuits while my non-furry friends are hanging out. Call me obsessed, but I don't care xD I have fun. As for reactions, hardly any, amazingly. So far, the only "bad" reactions I've gotten were being barked at (while wearing my tail at school) and some girls meowing at me for wearing a dog tag. o_O As for the good, most people don't say anything, though an older couple (at the mall) thought mine and Aaron's tails were adorable. xD Thats about it. -nods- The only sucky part was explaining to my mom that not everyone wears a fursuit for sex. :B

Just curious as to how many fursuiters we've got on this site. How many suits do you have? Did you make them, or were they commissioned? If commissioned, who did you commission? Do you have any photos? Do you only wear your suit(s) to conventions, or do you go on fursuit outings to parks and the like? What suits are you planning for the future? (whether you have one yet or not) :'D I'm just curious, and I love hearing about people's experiences.

I, myself, have one partial suit right now (Taboo the rabbit). The head was bought on furbid (and fixed up a little), the hand/footpaws are made by Nevask on dA, and the tail was made by me. :3 She's been on two outings so far, neither successful at all (I went with a friend, and we got harassed by evil sixth graders -__- blah). Hoping to eventually make her a fullsuit, so I can wear her out more realistically. :3 -nods- No photos yet; I'll take photos once she has a bodysuit.

I'm also working on commissioning a fullsuit of my fursona, Pensive. The head is being made by whippetluv, the bodysuit is being made by SPark, and as of now I'm not quite sure about the hand and footpaws (I can't decide yet). :3 Pensive's head is half paid off (she wants the other half when she's done) and the bodysuit will be paid off by next week (when I get paid for dogsitting for my neighbors)...I'm really hoping to have her to wear to A-kon next year, but if not, I'll be wearing Taboo. ^_^

Being PLANNED is also another few suits. The one thats actually started is a suit for my boyfriend, a snow leopard. The head is foamed, and being furred (as part of a trade) by SlapHappyBunny on LJ. :] I plan on making the rest of the suit myself, once he moves to TX so I can actually have him there (measurements xD). -nodnod- So. Looking forward to that, as well.
